Restoration in the Baie de l'Acul Area
Project Restoration Haiti is a multidisciplinary project that focuses on tackling the issue of declining coral reefs and fish populations along the Northern coast of Haiti. This initiative is aimed to combat this ecosystem's degradation for the benefit of the local fishing and tourism industries. Haiti can once again enjoy the many ecosystem services provided by vibrant coral reefs.
EducationConservation issues are not a part of school curriculum in Haiti. Education on these issues can bring awareness to Haitians so they have the opportunity to take action on their own. |
EcosystemsEcosystem restoration through building coral reef nursery structures and coral recruitment to restore these fading reefs into some of the most pristine, species-rich reefs on the planet. |
EconomyRestoring the reefs to revive the local fishing industry and initiate a strong comeback of underwater tourism to create more jobs in the area and stimulate the local economy. |
Our goal
Coral reefs and fish populations around the world are collapsing. We're empowering local Haitians to reverse this crisis and become the world leaders in marine ecosystem management. |
